Handcrafted Saddle-Inspired Chair

This chair was designed as an exploration of material efficiency, craftsmanship, and personal influence—built using a minimal amount of wood while maximizing both strength and visual impact.

The overall form draws inspiration from the suede seat of a saddle, bringing a subtle nod to equestrian design into a functional, everyday piece. The seat itself is constructed using hand-woven leather straps and suede lacing, creating both flexibility and durability while adding rich texture and depth.

The backrest is formed through bent lamination, allowing for a smooth, continuous curve that provides both structural integrity and a refined silhouette. As a personal detail, the back incorporates my first pair of riding reins—adding a meaningful, one-of-a-kind element that ties the piece directly to its inspiration.

Every component of this chair was intentionally considered—from material usage to construction methods—resulting in a piece that is both efficient in design and rich in character.
